Mainframe Consultant

Job Title: Mainframe System Engineer (+7 years of experience) Location: Remote - 1 day per month required in Brussels Job Type: Freelance - Full-Time Duration: Long term - 12 months+ Responsibilities: Manage and maintain mainframe applications in IMS and DB2, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Configure, and upgrade z/OS applications: IMS, DB2, TWS and related software. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and performance. Manage Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS) for job scheduling and automation. Administer and maintain DB2 databases, including model changes, spufi’s, performance tuning, backup, and recovery. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement system enhancements and upgrades. Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, procedures, and processes. Provide technical support and guidance to other IT staff and end-users. Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures. Desired Skills and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Proven experience as a Mainframe System Engineer or similar role. Strong knowledge of z/OS operating systems, TWS, and DB2. Strong knowledge of REXX/ISPF Proficiency in system performance monitoring and troubleshooting. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
