The Senior Manager is one of our most senior management roles in the data center environment. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a large organization, managing department heads who own data center facility infrastructure including the operational availability of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Key responsibilities Hiring, managing, and developing the operations management team including facilities managers, chief engineering managers and engineering operations technicians. Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency in support of our data center operations. Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center build-outs, new colocation build-outs, AWS data center expansions, and colocation expansions, including the entire mechanical/electrical/plumbing infrastructure to facilitate the daily operation. Operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for Amazon data centers to include preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management. Vendor management of colocation data center services providers, if required, to meet or exceed contracted performance SLA’s. Oversight of a preventative maintenance system and the adherence to schedules, evaluation and performance of our infrastructure supporting the data center operations. Experience in successful insourcing and/or outsourcing specific maintenance task balancing internal skillsets with frugality. Safety, security, and availability incident response, incident management, and incident resolution. Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools. Basic Qualifications Bachelor\'s degree or above in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity Experience managing large teams across multiple locations and languages, or experience as an acting operations manager Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership 5+ years of analytical, quantitative, communication, and presentations experience 10+ years of relevant work in a data center or other critical environment experience Preferred Qualifications Experience with continuous improvement methods such as Kaizen, Lean, DMAIC, etc. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures Experience in one or more IT infrastructure domains (storage, compute, networking, security, software development, systems administration, database engineering or administration, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, big data, DevOps, or other IT infrastructure domain) Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $164,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $313,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
