You’ll be expected to articulate your ideas, share knowledge, give and receive feedback, and help others improve.About the role We're looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer specializing in React Native passionate about crafting high-performance mobile experiences. You’ll help build key parts of the Orca app, including sail routing, weather overlays, real-time navigation, and marine data visualization. This is a critical navigation interface used offshore, offline, and under stress—so reliability, performance, and clarity are essential. Your work will directly impact how boaters explore and enjoy the seas.You should enjoy navigating uncertainty and solving complex problems, working through prototyping, research, design iterations, and testing. Independence and the ability to deliver quality features quickly are vital in our small, fast team.In this role, you will: Build and improve complex mobile interfaces with React Native and native components.Collaborate with designers, product managers, and backend engineers to develop navigation features.Optimize app performance across devices and screen sizes.Contribute to app architecture and best practices in frontend development.Communicate ideas clearly and effectively with your team.Identify requirements, risks, and pitfalls proactively.Own features from conception to deployment, with room for innovation.Your background looks something like: 7+ years of mobile development experience, including 5+ years with React Native.Deep knowledge of TypeScript, React, and modern frontend patterns.Experience building native modules in Java and Objective-C, including Turbo/Nitro Modules.Experience working with APIs and backend teams.Attention to detail and passion for pixel-perfect UI.Focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability.Bonus: experience with C++, offline UX, or mapping SDKs like Mapbox.Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality solutions.Strong skills in managing uncertainty, defining requirements, and iterative development.Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.As a person, you… Are a builder at heart.Are a self-starter who works autonomously.Prefer simple and practical solutions.Pay attention to detail and system impact.Communicate proactively and clearly.Think holistically about user experience and product quality.Orca is revolutionizing marine navigation with innovative products.
