The Opportunity We are hiring a Senior Python Backend Engineer to help build the foundation that supports our next stage of growth. This is a high‑ownership role focused on modernizing, refactoring, and scaling our backend systems. You will work on new services, improved architecture, and migrations that prepare us for multi‑country expansion. If you enjoy autonomy, taking initiative, and shaping real systems rather than maintaining old ones, you will thrive here. Location: Hybrid preferred in Malaga, Spain or Munich, Germany, remote possible within the EU Day‑to‑Day This role has variety and responsibility. You will work across architecture, development, performance, and integration challenges. Expect to: Design, build, and own backend services written in Python Lead refactoring initiatives and reachitecture work to modernize and simplify our platform Build reliable REST APIs for our React frontend, mobile apps, and partner integrations Create systems that support multiple countries, currencies, and languages Improve performance, stability, and reliability in high‑growth environments Work closely with frontend, product, and technical leadership Bring proactive ideas to the table, not just execute tickets Own your work end to end, from concept to deployment This role requires someone who takes initiative, thinks ahead, and enjoys turning messy problems into simple, scalable solutions. What You Need Must Have 5+ years building and maintaining production‑grade backend services Strong experience with Python and frameworks like FastAPI, Django, or Flask Solid experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs Knowledge of microservices or modular monolith patterns Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and Docker Familiarity with CI/CD practices Strong communication skills in English A proactive, ownership‑driven approach to engineering Nice to Have Experience with reachitecture projects, migrations, or platform rewrites Familiarity with Redis, message queues, or event‑driven systems Experience with high‑scale or high‑traffic platforms Background in mobility, automotive, logistics, or marketplace products Experience with data pipelines, metrics systems, or observability tooling Interest in shaping technical direction and mentoring others Deep understanding of SQL databases (PostgreSQL preferred) Our Stack Python (FastAPI) MySQL, Redis AWS, Docker, GitHub REST integrations Frontend ecosystem: React, Next.js, TypeScript You will help define how this stack evolves moving forward.
