Job Category Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (Operations and Corporate Services) Job Subcategory Technology, Information and Digital Transformation Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities) Who are we?  The British Embassy in Madrid is part of a global network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now recruiting for an Information Technology Support Officer position.  Main purpose of job: This role will cover the Madrid and Spain network posts, offering a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about IT, support services, and AI/Machine Learning. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our systems while supporting the diverse needs of our internal customers. This includes a strong focus on IT security and the digitalisation of internal processes within a Microsoft365 environment.  We are particularly interested in individuals who are enthusiastic and professional, fast learners with the flexibility to juggle competing demands and who can deliver well under pressure. A natural problem solver who thrives on improving processes and sharing knowledge will fit perfectly into our team. Additionally, attention to detail and effective communication skills in English and in Spanish are essential for this role. Roles and responsibilities:  Proactively maintain and support the Information and Communications Technology infrastructure and client systems in line with Foreign Commonwealth Development Office security procedures, in Madrid and the wider Spain Network; Register ICT requests and incidents via ServiceNow; Carry out system monitoring, problem resolution and manage the IT incident escalation procedures (to FCDO 2nd-3rd level support/and or external suppliers); Implement technological deployments and upgrades; Own ICT asset management and procurement; Support video-conferencing and hybrid meetings for internal and external events; Provide customised technical solutions by developing and creating apps with Microsoft Power Platform, incorporate the use of AI via MS Co-pilot; Produce effective communications and IT user guides in English and Spanish for users at all levels; Upskill staff via informal and formal training sessions; Create and maintain a positive, professional and trusting working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; Occasionally work additional hours (including weekends) and travel as required to Spain Consular posts. Overtime work shall be compensated with time off in lieu. Carry out physical duties – manual handling which includes lifting heavy equipment, installing cabling and connections throughout office i.e. under desks, in patch cabinets and server rooms. Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity Essential qualifications, skills and experience Our Ideal Candidate shows:  Fluency in English and Spanish (at a minimum level of C1 according to the CEFR*) with strong writing skills in both languages; A completed university degree or diploma in IT-related fields Good IT and networking skills with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft products: MS Windows 11 & M365 (including MS Sharepoint, PowerBI, Lists, Forms, etc); Able to develop solutions, automate processes via development of apps on M365 platform (Microsoft Power Platform) and experienced in AI/Machine Learning; Able to install OS and M365 from ‘off-the-shelf’ systems; Hardware skills: Able to change printer/workstation components as well as troubleshooting general hardware issues; Strong customer service skills; Fine attention to detail and strong analytical skills. Desirable qualifications, skills and experience Nice to have: Qualifications: ITIL and Networks+; Experience using MS Dynamics 365; Programming knowledge/background; Experience in Telephony and VoIP; Experience working in data centres and internet circuit installation; LAN design and WIFI networks integrating security (Firewall configuration, etc); Clean driving licence.
