Amazon Web Services is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Data Center Engineer to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. The Data Center Operations designs, installs, and maintains the world’s largest Computing Infrastructure. Our scope of work includes systems, repairing, dealing with issues, handling and tracking parts, and assisting in Data Center maintenance. Amazon Data Centers are large‑scale high‑density centers where you will help change the face of Technology in the region. Key Job Responsibilities Working as part of the Operations team; whose primary responsibility is the maintenance and upkeep of the data center infrastructure. Installing, removing, and repairing server racks, IT hardware, and network components. Responding to emergent situations that affect data center operations. Meeting customer service level agreements by resolving problems and providing first‑line hardware troubleshooting. Performing on‑call duties and participating in scheduled maintenance and change management activities that require monitoring of the data center infrastructure. Participating in team meetings for metric analysis and to discuss achieving daily/weekly goals. Understanding and applying policies and procedures, including safety and security, within the department. Contributing to documentation on technical issues through root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives relevant to the data center environment. Training less experienced team members as a more experienced engineer. A Day in the Life Maintain and troubleshoot data center infrastructure equipment such as racks, servers, networking devices, hardware components, and cables. Follow ticket‑based system instructions to install/remove server racks, repair hardware, and perform systematic routine operations. Carry out on‑call duties and participate in data center operations, handling scheduled maintenance and change management actions that require continuous monitoring. Demonstrate strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving. Participate in site management and maintain tidiness in operation areas. Work a rotating shift with a team of other engineers: 10‑hour shifts with a one‑hour break, 4 days on and 3 days off, with standard hours of 8:00‑18:00, 12:00‑22:00, or 21:45‑08:15. English and Japanese communication skills. Linux/networking certifications (RHCSA, CCNA, or equivalent) and scripting skills (Bash, Python, etc.). BA/BS in a technical field or equivalent practical experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience tracking problem management tickets and escalation procedures in a data center environment. Knowledge of maintenance windows and change management. English & Japanese communication skills. Linux/networking certifications (RHCSA, CCNA, or equivalent) and scripting skills (Bash, Python, etc.). BA/BS in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
