Software Engineer – REDAPL Resource Graph

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join the REDAPL (Referential Data Platform) team and help evolve Datadog's core platform for tracking infrastructure resources and relationships. REDAPL powers several Datadog products - including Cloud Security Posture Management, Resource Catalog, Cloud Cost Management, and Service Catalog - by enabling customers to understand and analyze how their infrastructure components interact, perform, and scale. As more teams integrate with REDAPL, our ingestion and query volumes are growing rapidly, presenting exciting scaling and optimization challenges. In this role, you will contribute to building resilient and performant systems that process large volumes of infrastructure metadata and make it accessible for product teams and customers alike. You'll work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure to platform-wide initiatives across ingestion, processing, and query pipelines. What You'll Do: Collaborate with engineers on the REDAPL team to design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems for processing infrastructure data Participate in system design discussions and contribute to decisions around performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness Write high-quality, well-tested code and contribute to continuous improvements in system operability and developer experience Support product teams as they integrate with REDAPL, helping them build reliable features on top of our platform Help debug and resolve production issues, participating in on-call rotations as needed Who You Are: You have 3+ years of experience working in backend or platform engineering, with exposure to distributed systems You are comfortable writing code in at least one server-side language (such as Go, Java, Python, or Ruby) You have worked with production data stores and understand core tradeoffs between different types of databases (e.g. relational, key-value, document, columnar) You care about code quality, system resilience, and learning from peers through reviews and collaboration You're motivated to learn and grow in a high-scale environment, with support from experienced engineers You have a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience You're excited about leveraging AI tools to enhance how you code, solve problems, and build – or eager to learn how Datadog values people from all walks of life.
