Job Description At LACUNZA IH we are looking to hire an enthusiastic teacher to join our team in different centres in San Sebastian and surrounding areas. We are looking for teachers that are versatile and are happy to teach young learners, teenagers, exam classes and adults. If you have less experience with one of these age groups or levels and are willing to develop your skills in these areas, we can help. We have an in-house professional development programme and can adapt this to your needs in order to help you develop as a teacher and therefore be more able to cater for our student’s needs. Lacunza IH was established in 1958, we are a large school accredited by both International House and Eaquals, and we are also an authorised Platinum Cambridge centre. We operate in 10 different locations in and around San Sebastian, so we have a big team of teachers, directors of studies and department heads. Our client base is mostly young learners and teenagers who start with us at around 6 years old and generally stay with us until they take their Cambridge exams, usually the Cambridge Advanced at around 16 years old. We also offer adult exam preparation, general English classes for adults and business classes. Working within a team of between 5 and 13 teachers, some of whom might be less experienced and/or new to the Basque Country, and others with decades of experience, with the corresponding support they can give. About the school and city Since its foundation in 1956, Lacunza - IH San Sebastián has enjoyed a high reputation in the city and the surrounding province of Gipuzkoa. More than 50,000 residents of San Sebastián and the neighbouring towns and villages have learned or improved their English in our classrooms. The Buildings In San Sebastian itself, the school has more than 60 classrooms housed in five different buildings, two of which are within easy walking distance (3 to 5 minutes) of each other in the city centre. The remaining three are in the city’s outlying neighbourhoods and are easily reached by bus or on foot. Lacunza also has branches in Irun and Zarautz, both about 20 km from San Sebastian up and down the coast, in Renteria and in Beasain. The latest addition to the group is a school in Tolosa (20 km south of San Sebastian) which became part of Lacunza-IH in January 2021. Each building has its own Director of Studies, and staff rooms are fully equipped with the necessary teaching resources. The classrooms are all well‑equipped and there are internet facilities which can be used by teachers. Wi‑Fi is also available for teachers who wish to use their own personal computers.
