The WHSS will coordinate and implement all areas of the Amazon Global Safety Program as directed by safety leadership, promoting a positive safety culture while complying with Amazon safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment. This includes conducting training and coaching associates on observed work habits.The WHSS must be an effective communicator, sending clear, concise and consistent messages, both verbally and in writing. You will instruct and train associates, operations leaders and WHS coordinators in Amazon policies and procedures, assist the operations site teams in incorporating our standards, identify best practices and incorporate standard methodologies to continuously improve the landscape.The WHSS is required to maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly metrics to report to onsite management teams and corporate-based reporting systems. By leveraging lean principles and kaizens, the WHSS will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce safety and ergonomic risk in our processes, ensuring a safe and healthful working environment for our Associates. A successful WHS Specialist will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the Operations Team and inspire change through comprehensive risk assessments and data analysis.The WHSS will also support the site WHS manager in developing the WHS Management System for Australia, establishing adequacy of WHS procedures and training materials, maintaining the compliance calendar, reviewing WHS documents, and setting up inspection/audit programs to meet local requirements and Amazon Global WHS Standards.Key Job ResponsibilitiesAs WHS Specialist, you will oversee the delivery of H&S objectives at the fulfillment Center, proactively collaborating on safety projects across the site and providing guidance on H&S matters. You will ensure compliance with Amazon’s Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) policies and global standards, complete risk assessments, measure site performance, analyze safety metrics, conduct frequent site audits and inspections, audit record-keeping practices, lead and mentor on‑site safety coordinators, facilitate incident investigations, maintain required documentation, conduct safety observations and audits, provide targeted training, and participate in process improvement activities.Day In The Lifea. Review metrics as published in Daily Deep Dive (DDD) dashboard.b. Identify metric callouts and allocate owners to discuss during DDD meeting.c. Moderate the WHS metrics/data discussion during DDD meeting.d. Review investigation, root cause analysis and action plan submitted by the manager responsible, provide feedback as needed.e. Conduct risk assessment, attend and facilitate safety committee, partner with ops managers to solve issues.f. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce safety and ergonomic risk.g.
