Senior Underwriter – Natural Resources, Madrid We are looking for a Senior Underwriter for our Natural Resources line based in Madrid (Spain). You will work within a highly experienced team of Underwriters, driving profitable new and renewal business across the region and supporting the global matrix organization. Responsibilities Underwrite large new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom‑line targets. Work with an existing and growing Conventional & Green Energy Operational Power Generation portfolio. Build a profitable Green Energy Power Generation portfolio, supporting clients with their Energy Transition. Negotiate participation, pricing and terms with brokers, proactively managing capacity. Underwrite in line with LoB governance framework – e.g. Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles. Ensure contract certainty at all accounts at time of inception. Contribute to the development and execution of global Underwriting strategy for LoB regionally. Train, develop and coach less experienced staff, including Underwriters. Represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market with key brokers and distribution channels. Drive involvement of functional areas in the Underwriting process, such as Distribution, ARC, Claims, and Operations. Maintain strong relationships with key brokers, clients and other stakeholders (e.g. risk managers). Qualifications Preferably a degree in Economics, Engineering, or related discipline. Significant experience underwriting profitable business in the Natural Resources or Engineering market. Specialised expertise in Conventional & Green Energy Operational Power Generation and construction of Green Energy Power Generation. Recognised relationships with brokers at peer group level, well-established within the market. Strong understanding of regional/local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape. Solid knowledge of legal and regulatory framework. Ability to assess risk exposures and natural hazards relevant to LoB. Skill in designing, developing and implementing robust wordings. Ability to analyse complex data from multiple sources, identify and resolve issues before they occur. Capability to persuade and motivate others without executive authority. Fluent in English and Spanish. Experience applying AI and ML to improve business processes and decision‑making (highly beneficial).
