The Engineering Technician will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations.The Data Center Engineering Technician will be responsible for ensuring the overall operation and maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment within the data center. This equipment supports mission‑critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.Key Job ResponsibilitiesSupervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenancePerform limited maintenance tasks to include filter changes, battery system PMs, and Rack PDU & Rack ATS replacementsPerform root cause analysis for operational issuesTroubleshoot facility and rack level eventsEnsure all personnel on‑site follow safety protocolsWork on‑call and a rotating schedule as neededTake daily operational readings and provide metrics reporting to senior engineersPerform basic support concepts such as ticketing systems, root cause analysis, and task prioritizationPhysical RequirementsAll physical requirements are expected with reasonable accommodationsWalk job sites in uneven terrainWork at heights and from laddersRegularly walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawlRegularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41 pounds or moreCarry objects weighing up to 40 pounds for short distancesWork shifts longer than eight hours in durationRespond to off‑hour emergency callsMaintain balance and perform construction tasks while on a ladderCoordinate body movements when using tools or equipmentLocationsSterling, VA, USABasic Qualifications2+ years of Microsoft Office products and applications experienceHigh school or equivalent diplomaTechnical (Military/Trade School) training or 2+ years of electrical or mechanical, HVAC, fire system experience in a mission‑critical infrastructure or equivalent experience in a relevant industry2+ years of electrical or mechanical experiencePreferred Qualifications4+ years of data center engineering experienceBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related fieldKnowledge of network design and layout as well as low voltage (copper/fiber) cablingExperience in data center engineeringCan perform physical tasks all day without becoming overly tiredThe base pay for this position ranges from $68,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $152,700/year in our highest geographic market. Additional compensation may include equity, sign‑on payments, and other benefits.
