Context and Mission The Language Technologies Laboratory (LT Lab) consolidates experience in NLP areas such as massive language model building, biomedical text mining, machine translation, and unsupervised learning for under‑resourced languages and domains. The lab is hosting the ALIA and AINA flagship projects funded by Spanish and Catalan governments, and participates in various EU funded projects. This role focuses on Deep Learning and large language model development, with potential involvement in other NLP and Speech Processing areas. Key Duties Collaborate with group members to design and develop solutions for research projects. Interact with stakeholders to understand issues and available data, formulating valuable solutions. Generate and evaluate language models using Deep Learning techniques (Transformers, Recurrent Neural Networks, etc.). Requirements Education Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related disciplines. Essential Knowledge And Professional Experience Good knowledge of Python. Experience in machine learning techniques applied to NLP. Research experience. Knowledge of Test‑Driven Design and/or Development. Knowledge of Deep Learning and related math & statistics. Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Pandas, Scikit‑learn, and/or NumPy. Good knowledge of Linux. Additional Knowledge And Professional Experience Theoretical broad knowledge of AI techniques. Knowledge of HPC workload managers such as Slurm. Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub, Docker, and/or Ansible. Basic knowledge of C++, JavaScript/node.js, C#, MATLAB, and/or Java. Experience in optimisation and parallelisation, ideally on HPC clusters. Research and dissemination activities, including paper writing. Basic knowledge of GPU‑based computing. Fluency in spoken and written English. Competences Capacity to explore new research lines. Good communication and presentation skills. Ability to work within a team and with pair programming. Conditions Location: BSC within the Life Sciences Department. Full‑time contract (37.5h/week) with flexible hours, extensive training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, relocation support. Open‑ended duration linked to project and budget. Holidays: 22 days + 6 personal days + 24th & 31st December per collective agreement. Salary: Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience, adjusted for Barcelona cost of living.
