Overview The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) is Spain’s leading supercomputing facility, hosting MareNostrum 5 (MN5) – a pre‑exascale system with 205 PFlops and 180 PFlops on NVIDIA H100 GPUs. The MN5‑AI partition underpins the AI Factories initiative, providing large‑scale AI training and deployment resources. The MINERVA EuroHPC project, part of this effort, delivers training, education, and technical support for European AI communities. Key Duties Optimize and adapt scientific application codes, with a focus on AI workloads, for pre‑exascale architectures. Improve the performance of existing AI environments, enhancing serial efficiency, scalability, and library usage. Choose and adapt algorithms or library routines to match specific accelerator architectures. Provide consultancy to scientists on AI solutions that accelerate research. Generate performance analyses and benchmarks for selected applications and communicate results to developers. Collaborate with functional groups at European and international levels on technical matters related to AI scientific application support. Requirements Education A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline with a focus on Artificial Intelligence at a technical level is required. A Master’s degree in a related field is desirable. Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience Experience working with AI models and running them in parallel on HPC systems. Experience using performance analysis tools and parallel GPU debuggers. Experience supporting and collaborating with external partners. Good understanding of Linux environments and Shell scripting. Experience with MPI, OpenMP, and batch systems such as SLURM. At least 2 years in a similar position involving AI solutions. Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience Experience managing large collaborative projects and using git and SVN. Experience porting codes to NVIDIA GPUs. In‑depth understanding of high‑performance computing architectures. Proficiency in Fortran, C, MPI, OpenMP, and parallel methods on UNIX systems. Good level in English, both written and spoken. Competences Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork. Strong analytical problem‑solving ability. Conditions Location: BSC Operations Department. Full‑time contract (37.5 h/week) with flexible hours, training plan, restaurant tickets, private health insurance, and relocation support. Open‑ended contract aligned with project funding. Holidays: 22 days + 6 personal days + 24 Nov/31 Dec as per collective agreement. Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and cost of living in Barcelona.
