Predoctoral Researcher In Cellular And Molecular MechanobiologyJoin the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) as a Predoctoral Researcher to work on nuclear mechanobiology in the Cellular and Molecular Mechanobiology Group.IntroductionThe cell nucleus is a central decision hub, integrating biochemical and mechanical signals to control cell function. The project focuses on mechanotransduction: how mechanical forces are converted into downstream biochemical signals. The research will involve fibroblasts and mesenchymal cells in a pancreatic cancer setting, exploring mechanisms of ECM–nucleus mechanical coupling.Main Tasks and ResponsibilitiesWork with fibroblast models to study mechanical responses in pathologies such as cancer or fibrosis.Establish a toolset for probing ECM–nucleus mechanical coupling using mechanical and molecular techniques.Unveil how ECM–nucleus mechanical coupling regulates mechanotransduction.Assess functional consequences of ECM–nucleus mechanical coupling, focusing on events triggered by mechanical force application to the nucleus such as nuclear translocation of transcription factors, activation of calcium signalling, changes in chromatin methylation, and DNA damage.QualificationsDegree in physics, biology, biomedical engineering or related field.Ready to enter an official doctoral programme on December XXXX (under Spanish Law).Must hold a university degree and a master’s degree, or an official qualification with at least 300 ECTS, including 60 at master’s level.Eligible if expected to receive such degrees by October XXXX.Strong commitment to scientific research and excellent academic record.Good working knowledge of English.Cannot have been awarded a doctoral degree.Must not have held a PhD contract exceeding twelve months before starting the fellowship.Good communication, teamwork, proactivity, integrity, time‑management, critical and analytical thinking, precision, and focus.BenefitsOne available position, starting December 1st XXXX (subject to call resolution).
