We are hiring a Web Engineering Manager to work collaboratively with many teams and roles across the organisation including product managers and other engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable and delightful user experiences for users of Canonical products. As an Engineering Manager at Canonical, your primary responsibility is to the people you support: ensuring that they are growing as web engineers, doing valuable work, and generally having a great time at Canonical. As a lead for strong engineers, technical leadership and a solid background in web development is a must so that you're able to challenge and grow your team members. Location : This role will be based remotely in the EMEA region. Demonstrate sound engineering principles by directly contributing to your team's goals Design and implement well‑tested and documented software in Web technologies or Flutter. Participate in our engineering process through code and architectural reviews Seek improvements to engineering and operations practices You are knowledgeable and passionate about web and software development Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path Experience designing and writing high‑quality Web technologies Experience with and passion for Typescript, React or Flutter An eye for accessibility and performance Professional written and spoken English Experience with Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred) Experience with container tech such as LXD, Docker and Kubernetes Performance engineering and security experience Personal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per year Annual holiday leave Canonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source.
