Context And Mission About BSC The Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is the leading supercomputing center in Spain. It houses MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and is a hosting member of the PRACE European distributed supercomputing infrastructure. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences). Earth System Services Group (ESS) at the Earth Sciences Department conducts interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research to enhance the societal value of environmental information, climate prediction and air quality services. The group actively engages with society, decision‑makers, and businesses to exchange knowledge and develop user‑oriented services. The aim of the ESS is to enhance knowledge and technology integration and improve resilience, by accelerating adaptation to a rapidly changing environment. The ESS group’s Knowledge Integration Team is looking for a motivated Knowledge Translation to work on knowledge translation activities related to climate services. The successful candidate will contribute the connection of emerging knowledge and services that aim at supporting resilience and climate change adaptation to diverse stakeholders. This position involves capacity to carry out knowledge co‑production processes to involve various stakeholders and users of climate information in the creation and co‑evaluation of new climate knowledge and services. The applicant will assure the societal, scientific, or business use of the new knowledge and services provided in the projects. The new position will also closely collaborate with climate, social, impact scientists and communication experts. The successful candidate is expected to learn about and participate in ongoing international scientific work of the ESS group and carry out knowledge integration. Experience in interdisciplinarity and international research teams, proved experience in science communication, organisation of stakeholder engagement activities are key for the position. The successful candidate will be part of a diverse and international team of scientists, communication specialists and technical experts. Key Duties Engage with stakeholders from different sectors and domains to conduct knowledge co‑production and co‑evaluation. Carry out co‑evaluation and exploitation tasks within EU funded projects Imetus4Change, Climateurope2). Attend project meetings and work on the reporting, evaluation of undertaken actions and support of ESS group knowledge translation materials. Coordinate with other projects and initiatives to exchange knowledge and organize dissemination and user‑engagement activities in events. Engage with the non‑academic, including business, community to ensure exploitation of new climate knowledge and services. Travel to events and workshops. Requirements Education An undergraduate degree in the sciences is required. Master or PhD qualification in climate related fields, science communication, and community engagement is valued. Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience More than four years of experience in knowledge co‑production, co‑evaluation, and community engagement. Previous work on the topic of climate change adaptation. Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience Professional experience with European institutions or international organisations. Previous experience with writing research project proposals. Experience with science communication, design, and user interface design are valued. Competences Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Spanish and Catalan are highly desired. Ability to work in a professional environment within an interdisciplinary and international team.
