Principal Communications Systems Engineer MaxLinear is seeking a Principal Communications System Engineer to join our experienced team in the Valencia design center. We are a team of world‑class communication systems engineers designing advanced broadband communication SOCs. These chips integrate complete PHY and MAC layers (including broadband RF/analog circuits, digital ASIC, and CPU subsystems) on a single die; and are being designed in deep‑submicron CMOS processes for use in next‑generation wireless, optical, and wireline systems. Responsibilities Research, design, verification and test of DSP (Digital Signal Processing) algorithms (modulators, demodulators, filters, equalizers, channel coding, echo cancellers, …) for broadband communication SOCs. Design, verification and test of signal‑impairment correction algorithms enabling higher performance from the analog front end; work closely with the RFIC and RF systems teams to optimize the overall system. Definition, specification and test of the hardware/software partitioning of complex DSP, control and data‑path blocks; collaboration with the ASIC design and firmware engineering teams to ensure correct implementation. Mentor Junior Engineers in all stages of the PHY layer development of MaxLinear’s SOC products. Qualifications Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering master’s degree (PhD is an asset). Ability to work closely within cross‑functional teams consisting of Communications Systems Engineers, RFIC, ASIC and SW. Strong analytical skills and solid mathematical background; strong foundation in communications theory. Experience in PHY modem architectures and DSP design for communications. Experience in MATLAB and C/C++; SystemC and Python knowledge is a plus. Able to work in a multicultural team with strong drive to excel. Good written and communication skills.
