Position overview: We are seeking an experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) with 3–4 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, ideally with a focus on rare or orphan diseases. The MSL will serve as a key scientific expert and bridge between the company and the medical community, responsible for fostering strong relationships with healthcare professionals (HCPs), supporting clinical and research initiatives, and ensuring the highest standards of scientific exchange. Responsibilities and duties Build and maintain trusted, peer-to-peer relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers, and academic experts in the field Communicate complex scientific information in a clear, accurate, and balanced manner to external and internal stakeholders to achieve business objectives Provide scientific and medical support for company-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies (IIRs) Identify, map, and engage with key stakeholders involved in rare disease diagnosis, treatment, and research Collect and communicate medical insights from the field to inform strategy and support cross-functional collaboration Ensures timely and informative scientific exchanges with external customers and internal partners, which accurately reflect scientific data, in accordance with compliance policies and procedures Deliver high-quality medical and scientific presentations to diverse audiences, including HCPs, payers, and patient organizations Support medical education initiatives, advisory boards, and congress activities Collects investigators' proposals for local and regional clinical activities, ensure that these proposals are discussed within the Brand Team, manage internal and external approval processes, and provide timely feedback to investigators Collaborate closely with internal teams (Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Regulatory, and Commercial) while maintaining scientific integrity and compliance with all regulations Stay up to date on emerging data, scientific trends, and therapeutic advances in rare diseases Ensures that Orphalan Pharmacovigilance SOPs are understood and followed. Drives the external communication efforts when significant safety issues arise, with the wellbeing of patients being the ultimate goal Qualification: Degree in Life Sciences 3–4 years of experience as an MSL or in a relevant medical/scientific role within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry Experience in rare diseases or highly specialized therapeutic areas strongly preferred Demonstrated ability to interpret scientific data and communicate it effectively to a range of audiences. Excellent teaching skills and ability to present and discuss scientific material clearly and succinctly as well as to write reports, papers and research protocols. Scientific inquisitiveness is a substantial asset Ability to quickly and comprehensively learn the science and adapt it to drive the business Strong knowledge of clinical research processes and regulatory standards Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills English language skills, spoken and written - Word, PowerPoint and Excel skills qualifications in relevant discipline Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently in a field-based role Promotes a culture of innovation, constructive challenge, team spirit and accountability within the team that is based on ensuring the wellbeing of patients Willingness to travel at least 60% Key Skills and Competencies Scientific and clinical expertise Strategic relationship management Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Collaboration and cross-functional teamwork High ethical standards and scientific integrity Adaptability and resilience
