Tecnun, the Engineering School of the University of Navarra, seeks to fill a tenured professor position in the field of Mechanical Analysis and Design to begin in September 2026. The role contributes to the University of Navarra’s core tasks: research, education and management, with an expected workload distribution of approximately 50% research, 40% lecturing, and 10% services and management. Responsibilities Conduct basic and applied research in mechanical analysis and design of machine components and mechanisms; publish in high-quality journals; seek and manage research funding; and supervise research projects. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in machines and mechanisms (e.g., Theory of machines and mechanisms; Machine elements; Machines design and analysis) and provide mentoring for graduate and undergraduate students. Develop and lead research projects, initiate new lines of research, coordinate ongoing programs, and develop an international scientific network. Contribute to program development, participate in academic and administrative duties, and support the academic staff in teaching and research activities. Qualifications A PhD in Mechanical Engineering in the field of analysis and design of machine components and mechanisms. An international academic portfolio and the ability to conduct high-quality research and teaching. The ability to publish in top-ranked international journals and to secure research funding; experience in writing research project proposals and leading research projects. Knowledge and interest in the identity and core values of the University of Navarra. Research Focus The Machines And Vehicles Research Group at Tecnun is a multidisciplinary team with experience in analysis and design of machines and mechanisms, including experimental methods, analytical and numerical calculations, and dynamics such as vibration transmission and fatigue tests. Current activities include: Analysis and design of transmission components for off-road vehicles. Study of fatigue and aging phenomena in mechanical components. Static and dynamic characterization of machine components. Numerical calculation and optimization (FEM). Noise and vibration transmission. Design and construction of test benches. Candidates will have the opportunity to develop their own research in collaboration with other group members and related faculties or research institutions within the university. Requirements and Teaching Teach at undergraduate and graduate levels in machines and mechanisms: Theory of machines and mechanisms; Machine elements; Machines design and analysis. Provide mentoring for graduate and undergraduate students. Teaching in Spanish and English to national and international students. Teach duties include annually 16 ECTS and participate in program development. What Is Offered Full-time tenure-track position for two years, with potential for permanent appointment (tenure) as Assistant/Associate/Full professor upon evaluation. Planned start date: 1 September 2026 or as soon as possible after that date. Work primarily at the San Sebastián Campus (tecnun.unav.edu) with some lectures at the Madrid Campus (madrid.unav.edu).
