Overview You will join Entera ( as the first Backend Engineer in a company built around artificial intelligence. You will design, build, and maintain the backend services and APIs that connect our AI models, laboratories, and medical users within a secure European cloud environment. The work combines backend development, data design, and lightweight cloud deployment in a small team with visible impact. You will collaborate closely with our AI engineers and founders, who value simplicity, clarity, and responsible technology.Company Entera is a health tech startup founded by Michelle Martens and Ellen Pekelharing. Both founders share a strong interest in health, nutrition, and medical innovation. Michelle brings experience as a data scientist and product manager, while Ellen has a background in health and nutrition.Entera is developing an AI platform that transforms complex laboratory data into clear, personal health reports. The system connects laboratories, doctors, and eventually patients in one environment. Laboratory results are processed automatically, interpreted by AI, and converted into structured reports based on validated medical knowledge.Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain end‑to‑end pipelines that transform raw laboratory data into structured, user‑ready reports.Build backend services (APIs, FastAPI) to handle inference, retrieval, and reporting, with proper version control, testing, and monitoring.Implement observability and monitoring for pipelines and services to catch errors and ensure smooth operation.Design and maintain databases and schemas (PostgreSQL) with safe migrations and reliable data storage.Qualifications University degree in Computer Science or related field.At least 4 years of software engineering experience building production systems.Strong Python skills and experience building backend services (FastAPI preferred).Experience with data pipelines, ingestion, validation, transformation, and routing.Familiarity with cloud deployment, containerization, and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform).Understanding of data privacy and European compliance regulations.Experience working with medical or life science data.Technical Skills Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, React, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, OpenTelemetry, Langfuse, EU based cloudLocation Hybrid - Amsterdam or Madrid in a WeWork office.#J-18808-Ljbffr
