Solar Planning Officer (Spain) – Rivan IndustriesRivan Industries (Rivan.com) is a synthetic fuel company designed to decarbonise heavy industry. We aim to make synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels and sustain life on earth by keeping the CO 2 locked underground.We design and manufacture modular synthetic fuel plants consisting of a DAC system, an Alkaline Electrolyser, and a Sabatier Reactor, whilst vertically integrating with off‑grid DC solar and the European gas‑grid. We recently deployed the UK’s largest synthetic fuel plant and plan to 1000× this scale in the next two years.After proving our technology over the last 18 months, we’re now embarking on our next project – to build the world’s largest synthetic fuel plant in Spain. This site will host almost 1GW of solar when complete, producing >500 GWh of synthetic natural gas each year, distributed across Europe to decarbonise areas that cannot be electrified. We’re seeking a leader who has the expertise to navigate the planning and permitting process of large‑scale solar in Spain and drive this project to life.Role OverviewLead the solar planning and permitting efforts for a 1GW solar installation in Spain, ensuring all regulatory and stakeholder requirements are met.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for areas of the planning and permitting process, including:Securing necessary land rights and permits for new pipeline connectionOverseeing early‑stage planning work, including feasibility studies, land use compatibility application, EIA screening, etc.Preparing and submitting an AAI application, including overseeing a robust social engagement strategy with local stakeholdersSecuring necessary municipal permits and authorisations to enable constructionManaging and engaging with stakeholders across various levels of government: municipal, AAC, and national levelCo‑ordinating with statutory consultees such as heritage, ecology, and landscape officersOverseeing sub‑consultants preparing surveys and assessmentsCore Skills7–10+ years of professional experience in planning, permitting, or related fieldsExperience with the AAI permitting process, ideally within AragónBachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related engineering or environmental disciplineSpecifics£80‑100k salary depending on experienceSignificant share options as part of the early teamRemote and in‑person work from London and SpainApplyInterested?
