He/She manages hiring, sets & controls standards (Definition of Ready, Definition of Done, unit test coverage, coding standards), oversees architecture, and ensures on‑time delivery across multiple teams or projects.Key responsibilities include mentoring software engineers and testers, defining technical strategy, coordinating with product and leadership teams, and guiding decisions around tooling, scalability, and performance. Close collaboration with product management on one side and the operations & support teams on the other side. Certain parts of our services are developed & operated in a DevOps manner with a streamlined CI/CD platform. The Head of Software Engineering contributes to this and evaluates which services should be operated in which manner.With a focus on people leadership, he sets long-term platform evolution, aligning engineering with company strategy.The Head of Software Engineering reports to the IT Solution Program Director.Key ResponsibilitiesWorking with product and design to align engineering priorities with business strategy, client needs, and regulatory requirements (ISO 17025, GxP practices, etc.).Managing and mentoring the community of technical leads, software architects, engineers, and testers.Review and define our standards for software development, coding standards, CI/CD, etc.Define test strategy to detect defects early and automate unit, integration, performance, and stress testing.Oversee technical architecture and long‑term platform evolution.Lead hiring, performance management, and team growth.Set goals for delivery timelines, quality benchmarks, and system reliability.Define efficient and modern pipelines for fast delivery using state‑of‑the‑art infrastructure technologies.Implement production monitoring and alerting for proactive maintenance.Lead engineering ceremonies, including retrospectives and planning.Report on delivery velocity, technical risk, and progress to leadership.The performance of the software engineering team is assessed through:Code quality: defect density, leakage rate, coverage of automated testing.Individual and team performance to increase velocity and output.Lead time between specifications and delivery in production.Ability to audit delivery, anticipate deviations, and suggest improved processes.Technologies Involved.NET, C#, MVC, WCF Rest and WebAPI.Angular and similar frameworks for modern web applications.Application lifecycle development tools: Azure DevOps / GitHub Enterprise, SonarQube, Artifactory, etc.Unit testing frameworks: nUnit / MsUnit.Strong knowledge of SOLID principles and design patterns.Hosting on Microsoft Azure or AWS.UML, OOP and object‑oriented design principles.Service and micro‑service architecture principles.Multi‑tier architectures.QualificationsBachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.Mandatory experience as a professional software developer after BSc/MSc graduation.8+ years of experience in software engineering and team leadership.Previous experience managing a large team of 100+ people.Proven experience scaling engineering teams and processes, especially in remote and distributed settings across multiple delivery centres.Deep understanding of IT architectures and software design patterns from delivering software at scale.Experience with multi‑tenant architectures, versioning strategies, and client‑specific customization.Ability to align technical delivery with product and business goals, balancing core platform evolution with client‑specific needs.Confidence in managing people and team performance, including Lean, Six Sigma, or Value Stream Mapping.Experience with budgeting, hiring, and resource planning.Skilled in leading code reviews, tooling selection, and QA standards.Experience in engineering transformation, process reengineering, or technical debt reduction.Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and cross‑functional collaboration.Strong communication skills for working with stakeholders.Additional InformationWe support your development Do you feel you don’t match 100% of the requirements?
