As a successful candidate, you will join one of SatCen’s production teams within the Operations Division.As a trainee, you will have the opportunity to gain first‑hand experience working for an EU body and to participate in the completion of meaningful, real‑world projects related to Earth Observation, Security and Defence.As a GIS/Imagery Analyst Trainee, you will play a crucial role in supporting our team with the development and maintenance of geospatial data and imagery products. Your work will contribute to the creation of high‑quality cartographic and analytical outputs, supporting a range of projects and operations within the organisation. This will enable you to develop your professional skills in a real‑world setting by performing a set of daily activities that may include some or all the following, depending on your profile:Production Support: assisting your team in the production of cartographic, GIS or IMINT products, especially during periods of high workload, ensuring a timely and accurate delivery.Database Management: generating, updating and maintaining comprehensive geospatial databases, and producing documentation to support data integrity and accessibility.Feature Extraction: digitising and extracting features from satellite images to update geospatial datasets.Geospatial Analysis: performing advanced geospatial analyses, including raster and vector data manipulation and processing, to support the creation of SatCen products using diverse data sources.Automation Implementation: contributing to the development and implementation of automation rules within the ESRI environment, enhancing efficiency and workflow automation.Web Mapping Services: assisting in the creation and deployment of ESRI portal‑based web‑mapping services and applications, expanding the accessibility and usability of geospatial information.Project Assistance: collaborating with Team Leaders and Imagery Analysts in executing various projects and division activities, providing essential support and insights.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEApplications will be assessed based on the information provided by the candidates in the Application Form, and their performance against the following criteria: Only applications meeting all essential selection criteria will be assessed.Essential:A university student or recent graduate with a degree in Geography, Geospatial Sciences, Environmental Science, Remote Sensing or a related field.Experience in GIS, particularly with ArcGIS applications.Desirable:Experience in ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro and Advance Analysis extension.Experience in programming languages such as Python.Experience in Model Builder and ArcPy package.Relevant experience in remote sensing and image analysis.SKILLS AND COMPETENCESEssential:Cartographic Skills: able to produce detailed and accurate maps and cartographic products, incorporating various data sources and ensuring readability and visual appeal.Geospatial Database Management: experienced in generating, updating and maintaining geospatial databases, ensuring data integrity, accuracy and accessibility.Raster and Vector Data Analysis: competent in manipulating and analysing raster, vector data and performing geospatial analysis.Feature Extraction: competent in digitising and extracting features from satellite images to update geospatial datasets.Language Proficiency: excellent command of English (minimum B2 level – CEFR) and proficiency in another EU language.Effective Communication: able to interpret complex data effectively and to clearly explain technical concepts.Team Collaboration: excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team.Discretion and Confidentiality: demonstrate a high level of discretion and a strong sense of confidentiality.All essential and desirable criteria are evaluated so as to identify the most suitable candidates.ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTSTo be considered eligible, candidates must satisfy all of the following eligibility criteria by the closing date for submitting applications:A recent university diploma or being in the last year of the university degree;Be a national of one of the Member States of the Union and enjoy their full rights as citizen;Produce evidence of a thorough knowledge of English (at least level B2 ), the working language of SatCen, and of a satisfactory knowledge of another official language of the EU to the extent necessary for the performance of their duties;In addition, candidates must:Hold a security clearance at least at the level of EU SECRET, or equivalent. In case the successful candidate is not in possession of such a clearance at the time of submitting an application, the SatCen will request it, and no appointment will be fully confirmed until the security clearance has been received by the competent national authority. In addition, and during the selection procedure, candidates will need to declare any particular circumstances, which could be in conflict with the performance of their duties at SatCen.As the SatCen is situated in an air force base outside of Madrid, with limited access by public transport to the entrance of the base and no public transport on the base itself, a driving licence is highly desirable. It is the duty of any staff member to get to the office by its own means.EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONSHealth Insurance needs to be organised by the trainee and proof of cover must be provided to the SatCen.Monthly subsistence allowance of €1.485,71Reimbursement of travel expenses upon starting and ending the traineeship under specific conditions;Upon presentation of the proper medical justification and costs incurred, disabled trainees may receive a supplement to their allowance equal to a maximum of 50% of the amount of the allowance due to additional costs they may have to make;Annual Leave: 2.5 days per month;Duration: 6-month assignment (renewable once).#J-18808-Ljbffr
