System Designer

Role Overview: The Design System Designer drives the evolution, adoption, and governance of the company's design system. This role blends strategic thinking with hands-on execution, ensuring that design assets, tokens, and guidelines are consistent, scalable, and usable across platforms - the designer partners with product teams, developers, and stakeholders to maintain alignment. Required Skillset: Experience: Solid background in product design or UX, with deep expertise in design systems. Advanced proficiency in Figma (libraries, variants, auto-layout, prototyping, documentation). Hands-on experience with Token Studio or similar tools for design token management. Familiarity with multi-platform ecosystems (web, iOS, Android, and specialized UIs). Understanding of component-to-code workflows (React or similar frameworks) and developer collaboration. Experience in large-scale environments, supporting multiple products and teams. Hands-on design skills - not just UX, but creating real, usable design assets. Clinical or laboratory experience is a plus - understanding lab workflows, digitalizing physical processes, and aligning with FDA or similar regulations. Main Tasks: Own and evolve the design system libraries in Figma, ensuring clarity, quality, and scalability. Define, maintain, and implement design tokens with Token Studio to guarantee cross-platform consistency. Partner with developers to connect design tokens and components with implementation in code. Document guidelines and usage principles for designers. Ensure consistency and adoption of the design system across product teams. Work on creating experiences that enhance the perceived and practical value of the design system. Integrate accessibility best practices into all aspects of the system. Additional Tasks: Audit products and guide migrations into the design system. Benchmark against industry-leading design systems to keep practices up-to-date. Contribute to release notes and communication around new system features. Support measurement and reporting on adoption, quality, and efficiency. Act as a cultural advocate for design system thinking within the organization. Understand and incorporate physical lab workflows into digital environments, e.g., mimicking a pathologist's lab desk, microscope, and slide handling in the digital interface. Ideal Candidate: More than just a UX designer - hands-on with visual design, prototyping, and scalable component libraries. Experienced in translating physical workflows into digital environments, ideally in clinical or lab settings. Comfortable collaborating with developers to implement design systems in code.
