With the power of many curious minds, together we can solve the world's most complex challenges and deliver more impact together. Role description: Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Consultant with specialized experience in Quantitative Risk Assessment to join our Resilience Department in Spain. In this role, you will contribute to subsoil investigation and remediation projects, ensuring rigorous risk evaluation and innovative solutions. This position offers a unique opportunity for a highly motivated professional to advance their career within the world's leading Design & Consultancy firm for natural and built assets. As a member of our expanding Iberian Environmental Restoration (ER) and Risk Assessment teams, you will collaborate with multinational clients and contribute to technically challenging and impactful projects, with the benefit of strong local support from experienced specialists. The main responsibilities for this role will focus on the preparation of Quantitative Risk Assessments. This includes designing conceptual risk models, defining input parameters, and performing numerical modelling using specialized software. You will be expected to analyze results, draw relevant conclusions, and prepare comprehensive reports. These core tasks may be combined with site investigation and remediation studies, as well as collaboration in project management activities. At Arcadis, you will be part of a dynamic team characterized by technical excellence, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to continuous professional development. You will have the opportunity to work with advanced digital tools and participate in innovative initiatives that are shaping the future of environmental risk analysis and consulting. Joining Arcadis means access to a global network of top-tier specialists, including local and international experts in risk assessment. We value long-term relationships and are committed to supporting your professional growth within a company at the forefront of innovation and sustainability. Arcadis recognizes and rewards outstanding performance, offering clear paths for career progression and opportunities to be acknowledged for your contributions. Role Accountabilities As an Accredited Risk Analyst, your primary focus will be conducting Quantitative Risk Assessments in accordance with the Risk-Based Corrective Action (RBCA) methodology, adhering to both regional and national guidelines, and under ISO 17020 standard accreditation. Key responsibilities include: Reviewing key findings from investigation campaigns and contributing to the development of the Conceptual Site Model in collaboration with the investigation team. Identifying main risk scenarios applicable to each site. Evaluating technical databases and site-specific information to define critical input parameters, including exposure features, toxicological data, exposure concentrations, and geological and hydrogeological data. Applying specialized software such as RBCA Toolkit, RISC 5, or similar analytical tools to support risk assessment processes. Collaborating with other team members to review assessment results and define actionable conclusions. Designing and executing advanced (Tier 3) studies, which may include fieldwork as required. Preparing technical reports that meet regulatory requirements. While the core responsibility will be quantitative risk analysis, you may also be involved in other project activities, such as supporting investigation and remediation projects—including data review and report preparation. For specific projects, participation in fieldwork may also be required. Qualifications & Experience To succeed in this role, you should bring: A degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical), Geology, or other environmental-related disciplines (e.g., Chemistry, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering). At least 5 years of experience working on soil and groundwater contamination projects and at least 3 years of specific experience in Quantitative Risk Assessment. Proficiency in specialized risk assessment software (e.g., RBCA Toolkit, RISC 5). Ability to interpret and apply regulatory frameworks (regional, national, and EU standards) relevant to contaminated land and risk assessment. Demonstrated analytical thinking and sound judgment in complex technical scenarios. Effective report writing and presentation skills, capable of communicating complex results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A high level of commitment to project delivery and solid command of spoken and written English. Additional skills and qualifications that will be positively valued: Familiarity with the ISO 17020 standard. A valid driver's license.
