POSITION: Lower School Physical Education TeacherSTARTING DATE: January 2026JOB SUMMARYWe are seeking a passionate and dedicated Lower School Physical Education teacher to join our dynamic specialist team. The ideal candidate will inspire our youngest learners to develop healthy habits, stay active, and build confidence through movement. This role includes co‑teaching and collaborating closely with colleagues to design engaging units and that promote skill development, teamwork, and personal growth. The position requires a creative approach to curriculum design, strong classroom and behavior management, and a commitment to fostering a positive, joyful, and inclusive learning environment where every child feels successful.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESTeach Physical Education to students in grade 1-5Assist in the development of our Physical Education program in the Lower SchoolCollaborate with other members of the specialist team and with other Lower School educators to ensure students are supported in their learning and social emotional growth at ASMPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSTeacher Certification + minimum 3 years teaching experience, preferably in grades 1-5Specialist in teaching PEAbility and experience in teaching a broad base of physical education skillsExperience in using Understanding by Design to develop curricular unit mapsExperience using a standards-based approach and performance-based assessmentsExperience in using Responsive Classroom or other student-centered classroom community building programsExperience using standards-based grading and assessment practicesExperience in using technology as an instructional toolExperience / willingness to work closely with colleagues to create a dynamic learning environmentExperience / willingness to work with ELL and students with diverse learning needsExperience in using student data to inform instructional practicesA desire to have fun, build community and support childhood at ASMADDITIONAL INFORMATIONWorking hours: 8:45 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.Vacation and time off: Teacher work year#J-18808-Ljbffr
