Electronics Engineer Opportunity at Destinus

Destinus is a pioneering aerospace technology company that's redefining the future of transportation. We're building near-space vehicles and infrastructure to make distance irrelevant. Our hydrogen-powered vehicles are ten times faster than conventional aircraft, providing a just-in-time backbone for logistics, e-commerce, and supply chain companies.

We're seeking an Electrical Hardware Engineer to join our embedded firmware/software team. In this role, you'll design, manufacture, and test custom PCBs equipped with microcontrollers, SOCs, power supplies, and analogue blocks. These PCBs are crucial for orchestrating the complex sequencing of sensors, valves, and actuators, controlling propulsion and cryogenic fuel storage systems of aircraft.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Derive block diagrams from requirements and select suitable architectures and implementations
  • Define electrical architecture, select components, perform analysis, capture schematics, prototype, bring up, debug, document, manage products, and oversee manufacturing and testing of the designed equipment
  • Generate comprehensive production data packages for PCB manufacturers
  • Define mechanical layouts and mounting methods
  • Document connector interfaces and support harnessing teams with loom designs
  • Work closely with software and firmware teams for initial testing and integration
  • Write software to validate the board, including Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP)
  • Support integration and testing at both the subsystem and system levels
  • Provide support for hardware through test, production, integration, and flight phases

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer science, engineering, or a related technical field
  • 3+ years of electronic product experience developing electrical hardware from concept through production
  • Work experience with simulation software like Spice, Multisim or CircuitCity
  • Experience with electrical schematic capture software (Altium, Orcad or similar)
  • Experience with designing and testing digital electronics and/or mixed circuit boards from concept through production consisting of, but not limited to processors, FPGAs, AD and DA converters, and power supplies
  • Experience with C, C++ or similar low-level language
  • Willingness to take ownership and accountability for your actions and mistakes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, crucial for algorithm development and data analysis
