As an Animal Caretaker in our Experimental Surgery Unit (ESU), you will play a vital role in supporting preclinical animal models for research and teaching purposes.

The ESU is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and expertise in anesthesia, analgesia, and resuscitation protocols, as well as pre and post-operative animal care and welfare. Our team offers integral preclinical imaging services, ethics committee assistance, and holds certifications from ISO 9001:2015 and AAALAC - Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care.

In this challenging yet rewarding position, you will be responsible for:

  • Feeding and caring for animals, including rabbits, sheep, and pigs
  • Daily review and maintenance of animal enclosures
  • Receiving and housing new animals
  • Controlling feed stock

You will also contribute to facility maintenance, monitoring equipment functionality, and detecting potential incidents. Additionally, you will prepare surgery rooms, clean and sterilize surgical instruments, control consumables, and support veterinarians and researchers.

This part-time contract (30h/week) offers flexibility, with possibilities for additional hours on weekends and days off. Your gross annual salary will depend on your experience and skills, ranging within our Collective Agreement pay scale.
