About the Role

As a Software Engineering Manager at Dow Jones, you will be responsible for leading a high-performing team of software developers in building and maintaining core systems used by our customer base around the world. You will be responsible for managing, mentoring, and coaching your team members, guiding their career paths, and ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of software developers, providing guidance and support to help them grow and develop in their careers.
  • Write, build, and deploy code, ensuring it meets the highest standards of quality and reliability.
  • Analyze business application requirements, identify concerns, and develop action plans to address them.
  • Lead an Agile team, working closely with team members from Romania and the US to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Leverage our Cloud infrastructure (AWS) to design solutions that make the best use of its capabilities.
  • Maintain existing legacy applications, ensuring they continue to meet the needs of our customers.
  • Track down and resolve bugs in any OPIS code base, ensuring our software is reliable and stable.
  • Adhere to best practice development standards, including continuous integration and deployment.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related technical field.
  • 7+ years hands-on software development experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OOP principles.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products, such as C#,.NET Framework, and.NET 6/8.
  • Knowledge of web services, including protocols and architectures.
  • Good understanding of a relational database engine – SQL Server (or PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with modern software development life-cycle.
  • Strong, effective communication skills that bring multiple personalities, cultures, and roles together to work towards a common goal.
  • Strong ability to communicate ideas verbally and written to promote, educate, and evangelize adoption across development teams.
