About the Role

Mott MacDonald is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Power Transmission and Distribution team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and delivering innovative solutions for power transmission grid systems and client transmission and distribution installations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop primary plant layouts for HV substations
  • Specify equipment for HV Plant and ancillary equipment
  • Provide engineering design input to major electrical power infrastructural development projects
  • Coordinate with client project teams and internal team disciplines
  • Deliver projects in new technologies such as energy storage, HVDC systems, and smart grid solutions
Requirements
  • Qualified to degree level and Chartered Engineer status
  • Experience in the power transmission and distribution industry
  • Working experience related to design, delivery, and supervision of HV substation solutions
  • Experience in developing specifications for HV AIS/GIS substations and associated primary/secondary equipment
  • Experience in applying regulatory and client-specific health and safety requirements
  • Experience in preparing technical reports in English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling of HV substations in Revit software
  • Experience in design of Overhead Line Systems for transmission networks
  • Experience in design of HV cable systems
  • Experience in site construction and/or testing/commissioning for HV plant systems
  • Experience in earthing software design, power cable ampacity rating software, and system studies/protection coordination software
