About The Role
DNV's Market & Transaction team is seeking a Senior Consultant specialized in electricity markets.
DNV is expanding its power price forecasting capabilities throughout Europe and is looking to reinforce its current Advisory team with headquarters in Madrid.
The candidate will be integrated with a young and high-powered team that has a clear mandate to grow in terms of market coverage and scope of work.
The position will be based in Madrid, Spain.
DNV's power price forecasting activity is structured around a set of internal processes and tools that combine a fundamental approach (dispatch models) with statistical and artificial intelligence methods that aim to understand and replicate the market agents' interaction with the different power and ancillary services markets.
The Responsibilities Of The Senior Consultant Will Cover
- Conduct Electricity Market Analysis: Analyze electricity market trends and conduct comprehensive energy market studies, including expansion plans and commodities analysis.
- Perform scenario analysis (climate impact, electric vehicle adoption, distributed generation, and self-consumption), and stay updated on regulatory changes and technological advancements.
- Serve as a Trusted Advisor: Understand clients' business objectives, challenges, and opportunities within the energy sector, particularly in energy markets and low carbon technology studies like BESS revenue stack by participating in multiple electricity markets.
- Provide insights and guidance to help clients navigate the complexities of the energy landscape, especially in the electricity markets space (wholesale markets, capacity markets, ancillary service markets).
- This encompasses all aspects from economic regulations to market design and modeling.
- Collaborate with the Modeling & Analytics Team: Work closely with the modeling team to structure ad-hoc electricity market problems into quantifiable analyses and deliver integrated solutions that address clients' strategic and operational needs.
- Lead Client Engagements: Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business opportunities.
- Lead client engagements with a focus on delivering exceptional value and fostering long-term partnerships.

Essential Requirements
For this role, we are looking for a candidate with:
- Degree in Energy/electrical Engineering or other relevant discipline.
- Strong experience (up to 10 years) in European Electricity Markets, including ancillary services and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in UAE and/or African electricity markets is desirable.
- Proven track record of leading client engagements, managing projects, and delivering high-quality results within budget and timeline constraints.
- Software knowledge in energy system modeling languages like Plexos and in programming languages like Python and SQL is desirable.
- Proactive and forthcoming attitude.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Fluency in Spanish and English (both verbal and written), Arabic is considered a plus.
