Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to accelerate our vehicle-level testing for autonomous vehicles, chassis dynamics, and range. As an Autopilot Engineering Technician, you will play a critical role in driving Tesla's performance testing program by supporting the development team with vehicle-level tuning and testing, and ensuring regulatory compliance of the vehicle in every market.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute Tesla test procedures in the areas of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, Vehicle Dynamics, and Range under the leadership of test engineers.
- Prepare vehicles for testing, including instrumentation installation, part changes, and vehicle diagnostics.
- Design and build new instrumentation or test equipment as needed.
- Lead on-site and off-site test trips, including management and support of other technicians and operators in vehicle setup and test execution.
- Work with internal and external test labs and proving grounds to direct testing activities.
- Mentor less-experienced technicians and operators to develop their skills and knowledge.
- Document results of testing and communicate issues found to the lead test engineer.
Requirements
- A study in an automotive field or equivalent technical credentials.
- In-depth knowledge of modern vehicle systems and how they operate.
- Some exposure to vehicle testing, specifically related to Vehicle Dynamics, Chassis Dynos, or Autonomous Vehicles, is preferred.
- Some fabrication skills preferred.
- Fluent English skills.
- Hands-on experience on driving prototype vehicles at (or over) their limit on closed courses.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in an extremely fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
