Job Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Database DevOps Infrastructure Engineer to join our team at Roche. As a key member of our IT infrastructure team, you will be responsible for optimizing the reliability, availability, scalability, and performance of our expansive IT infrastructure, spanning on-premises and public cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply software engineering principles across the entire lifecycle, from inception to decommissioning, to build and manage large-scale IT infrastructure products and services.
  • Optimize database services reliability, availability, capacity, and performance, and eliminate work through automation and software development.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, enabling developers to easily build, test, and deploy their applications.
  • Ensure IT infrastructure services reach and maintain the agreed service level indicators (SLIs), objectives (SLOs), agreements (SLAs) in compliance with QA requirements.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of database services once they are live by monitoring and resolving incidents/problems, suggesting priorities, and collaborating in the resolution when required.
  • Implement cost, compliance, and security best practices, ensuring that database platforms and services meet the corresponding requirements and ensure implemented solutions and components comply with Quality/Regulatory standards, as applicable.
  • Collaborate with developers, Managed Services suppliers, other teams, and vendors to continuously improve application development velocity, optimize services reliability, availability, and performance, and ensure that new features and changes are rolled out with reliability in mind.
Requirements
  • 3-5 years of experience with minimum Bachelors; Masters preferred.
  • Expertise in both on-premise and in public cloud databases with a preference in Open Source solutions (ie PostgreSQL, MySQL, AWS RDS, Aurora), noSQL (ie MongoDB, GraphDB, DocumentDB, Azure CosmosDB) as well as Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle experience.
  • Well-proven scripting and automation skills with strong knowledge in delivering and managing infrastructure as code.
  • Experience working with database infrastructure systems internals, their availability, administration, configuration, and integration.
  • Familiarity with Software Engineering and DevOps principles and automated testing and CI/CD tools.
Preferred
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and principles.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and/or GitOps plus required tooling (AWX, Rundeck, Ansible, Jenkins (gitlab), Puppet, Chef, Microsoft DSC or equivalent) as well as Coding and scripting: Python, Perl, Ruby, JS, Go, SQL, GraphQL.
