About the Role

Telefonica S.A. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Climate Change Expert to join our Environment and Human Rights Corporate Department. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing strategies and actions to mitigate climate change risks and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in climate change information reporting and assurance, including CSRD requirements and internal control of non-financial information.
  • Support in auditing processes and implement specific projects to fill gaps in new regulation requirements.
  • Define, monitor, and assure KPIs related to climate change.
  • Participate in environmental reports and presentations for investors and analysts.
  • Develop and update the Climate Action Plan, including internal control and verification processes.
  • Manage climate change risks and opportunities, including physical and transition risks.
  • Calculate, verify, and report carbon footprint (scopes 1+2+3).
  • Collaborate with other teams to reduce carbon footprint and implement carbon pricing within the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences or related field, with a postgraduate in environment and climate change considered.
  • Specific GHG training or experience required.
  • Previous experience in climate change management, including risks, carbon footprint calculation, verification, and climate reporting.
  • 3-5 years of work experience in environment and climate, either in a company or consultancy.
  • Knowledge of climate change risks and verification and control systems.
  • Experience related to the implementation of environmental management systems (ISO 14.001, 14.064, and KPIs reporting).

Preferred Qualifications

  • High-level fluency in English and Spanish required.
  • Other languages valued, especially Portuguese and German.
  • Passion and interest in sustainability trends and challenges.
  • Good project management skills with attention to detail and comfort dealing with ambiguity.
  • Analytical skills, including ability to identify gaps and opportunities.
  • Experience participating in projects in a complex and international organizational environment.
  • Great communication and writing skills.
