EDP Energias de Portugal S.A. is seeking a highly skilled Global Procurement Solar Associate to join our team. As a key member of our Global Procurement team, you will play a crucial role in the development and execution of our ambitious solar procurement strategy.
Key Responsibilities- Procurement Strategy
- Collaborate with the Solar Procurement Manager to drive strategic initiatives and achieve long-term partnerships with suppliers.
- Procurement Processes
- Execute RFIs, RFPs/RFQs, and bid processes to evaluate product options and select the right supplier for a given project or set of projects.
- Manage negotiations regarding purchase Solar supply agreements, involving other EDP areas as required.
- Ensure compliance with EDP internal approval processes and guidelines.
- Relationship Management
- Develop a close network with solar industry players and stakeholders, providing strategic market intelligence.
- Cross-functional support and interaction with other EDP areas, including:
- Legal
- Closely interact with the legal team for support and alignment on contractual agreements.
- Business Development
- Share information about solar technology evolution and regular interactions about projects' development to define the Solar sourcing strategy.
- Technology
- Monitor and evaluate new solar technologies, mitigate risks, and validate new suppliers through Technical Due Diligence.
- Get assistance and validation on contract management for technical issues and provide guidance on suppliers' technical aspects and new trends.
- Construction
- Support on-going issues during the project execution phase and provide Return on Experience on suppliers' performance.
- Operations & Asset Management
- Return on Experience on suppliers performance and main issues and get support from the area for improved contract management.
- M&A
- Work on financial models, obtention of detailed LCOEs, and interaction to identify Solar CAPEX-OPEX targets.
- Support to help close M&A deals with any Solar related matters.
- Origination
- Regular contact to understand Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) status or Build Transfer Agreement (BTA) negotiations and closing.
- Finance
- CAPEX, modeling, optimization, and alignment on payment methods.
- Risk
- Information on counter party risk related with Solar suppliers, new and incoming supply agreements with relevant T&Cs, and market trends & new risks.
- Energy Assessment
- Solar plant production.
- Tax&Accounting
- Sales/use tax mitigation, duties, tariffs, INCOTERMS.
- Academic skills
University Degree, preferably in technical and/or business financial areas.
- Professional experience
- 2-3+ years of relevant experience in Solar Industry, preferably in Procurement or Commercial.
- Experience with supply contract negotiation and management, contract models and industry terms and conditions.
- Experience with strategic equipment procurement tenders, and market competitive analysis.
- Competency in the development of Business Relationships.
- Behavioral requirements

- Travel
Expected min 25% (Supplier factories, supplier meetings, solar farm visits, industry fairs, global team meetings, etc). Willingness to travel internationally when required.
