Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Manager to join our team at Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation. This critical role will be responsible for establishing a supply chain that meets the ever-growing demands of our cloud and customer needs. As a key member of our strategic Supply Chain team, you will play a vital role in driving efficiencies, delivering projects on time, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee supplier labor management to align schedules and deliverables.
- Negotiate and manage change orders for overtime, schedule compression, and acceleration.
- Lead change order management, monitoring and mitigating the impact of change orders on projects, and resolving or escalating accordingly.
- Act as the commercial subject matter expert, prescribing entitlement and justification for all change orders.
- Negotiate claims with detailed understanding of contractual conditions and partner with regional claims to settle or escalate.
- Facilitate MEP/OFCI equipment inspections, manage receiving processes, and align design changes with procurement and engineering teams.
- Manage post-award site delivery scheduling, on-time delivery performance, and reporting.
- Communicate scheduling delays, oversee site-specific LLE performance, and collaborate with internal and external partners to resolve issues.
- Act as liaison between supplier, engineer, architectural engineer, engineering, and supply chain teams to execute complex post-award design alignment.
The role requires partnering with Global Supply Chain teams, including Planning & Analytics, Procurement, Supplier Quality, and Special Projects, to meet on-time delivery for a large, complex capital project. This will involve strategy development and compliance through supplier selection, supplier award, and contract management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Experience in Project Management, Procurement, Supply Chain, and/or Operations.
- Hyperscale data center or large building construction experience in an owner or general contractor capacity.
- Knowledge of data center industry and experience managing project delivery methods, leading project teams in defining risk, and developing contracting strategies.
- High energy and drive to achieve results in ambiguity and matrixed orgs.
- Technical ability to write contracts, set up sourcing plans, and negotiate strategies.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with diverse groups across organizational levels.
- Familiarity with common process improvement methodologies and ability to facilitate change management.
- Ability to implement new processes and get buy-in from cross-functional teams.
- Must be able to drive sourcing strategy and supply chain execution for multiple categories.
- Able to integrate into large-scale construction projects with large-dollar contracts.
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role, including Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
