PhD Researcher in Electrochemical Energy Storage

CIC energiGUNE is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to investigate and model degradation mechanisms in commercial sodium-ion batteries. The research will focus on identifying and quantifying ageing pathways in anodes, cathodes, and electrolytes, and developing predictive models to simulate aging mechanisms and propose mitigation strategies to enhance battery performance and longevity.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct experiments to study the ageing mechanisms in commercial sodium-ion batteries.
- Analyze experimental data to identify key degradation pathways in anodes, cathodes, and electrolytes.
- Develop and implement computational models to simulate ageing processes.
- Collaborate with team members and external partners to validate findings.
- Present research findings at conferences and publish results in high-impact scientific journals.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- Strong background in electrochemistry, battery technology, and materials characterization techniques.
- Experience in computational modelling and simulation of electrochemical systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
