Senior Microbiologist

Job Overview
As a Senior Microbiologist at TE Connectivity Corporation, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products. You will work closely with process development engineers to create quality control processes and transfer them into operations. Your expertise in infectious disease IVD product development will be invaluable in leading all quality control related to antibiotic resistance testing (ART) and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST).

Responsibilities
• Maintain bacterial stocks and prepare antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains for testing
• Establish processes and perform validations on procedures for stock maintenance and bioburden testing
• Perform incoming QC procedures of bacterial stocks on bacterial culture materials
• Prepare bacterial cultures for testing and long-term storage
• Monitor bacterial stocks for antibiotic resistance and establish processes for handling, plating, culturing, storing, and manipulation of BSL1 and BSL2 antibiotic-resistant bacterial strains
• Create SOPs and processes for laboratory staff training and quality control final release testing

Requirements
• PhD in microbiology, medical or clinical microbiology, virology, clinical laboratory sciences, molecular biology, biochemistry, or similar background with at least 1-2 years of experience with microbiologic techniques
• Proficient in standard biology laboratory techniques, such as laboratory math, micropipetting, pH, buffer preparation, etc.
• Experience with antibiotic resistance and/or antimicrobial susceptibility testing strongly preferred
• Excellent communication skills and ability to summarize and report results to upper management
