Job Title: Bioinformatician for the PREDIMED-Plus RCT

At the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), we are seeking a highly skilled bioinformatician to join our team and contribute to the success of the PREDIMED-Plus RCT. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing large datasets related to environmental exposures and body composition in adults with overweight/obesity and metabolic syndrome.

About the Project

The PREDIMED-Plus RCT is a prospective study that aims to assess the association between a wide range of environmental exposures and body composition in adults with overweight/obesity and metabolic syndrome. Our research has shown that specific body composition components, such as excess visceral fat and loss of muscle mass, are key to the development of obesity-associated chronic diseases. We are seeking a bioinformatician who can help us further investigate these relationships and identify potential interventions to improve body composition.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and analyze large datasets related to environmental exposures and body composition
  • Develop and implement bioinformatics tools and pipelines to support data analysis
  • Collaborate with researchers and clinicians to design and implement studies
  • Communicate research findings through publications and presentations
Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced bioinformatician with a strong background in computational biology and data analysis. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field, and at least 2 years of experience in bioinformatics research. Strong programming skills in languages such as R, Python, or Java are required, as well as experience with bioinformatics tools and databases.
