About the Role

We're seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join our AWS Networking organization. As a key member of our team, you'll design and develop software and services that configure and automate operations for our global optical network.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Scoping, designing, building, and operating services that meet our customer expectations
  • Collaborating with System and Network Development Engineers, Network Operations, and peer software teams to ensure designs are scalable and reduce operational burden
  • Participating in an on-call rotation to support the software developed
  • Identifying and troubleshooting recurring platform issues with effective escalation to senior-level engineering teams
  • Contributing to documentation, process, and procedures

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems
  • Experience in professional software development
