Job Opportunity: Postdoctoral Researcher in Plant Evolutionary Genomics
About the Position:
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our research group in Plant Evolutionary Genomics at the Universidad de Almería. The successful candidate will work on a research project focused on generating high-quality reference chromosome-scale genome sequences of selected orphan crop tree species and their wild close relatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth evolutionary and population genomics analyses of genomic data
- Identify varieties best suited for their introduction in arid and semi-arid regions
- Unravel the adaptive genomic landscape of salient evolutionary innovations and agronomically desirable traits
Requirements:
- PhD in Biology, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or related disciplines
- Scientific training in analysis of large genomic datasets, genome structural annotation, and/or population genomics
- Basic molecular wet lab experience
- Familiarity with Linux command line and bash scripting
- Proficiency in at least one programming language
- Excellent communication skills in English
