About the Role

As a Senior Data Center Segment Strategist at Eaton, you will play a critical role in guiding the product management cycle and influencing the market in the critical power space within the datacenter segment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and Analysis: Research trends in the IT and Datacenter industries that may impact the way electrical energy and heat are managed in datacenters, and the way datacenters are built and managed over their lifecycle.
  • Technology Research: Research new technologies available with Eaton ERLs, Universities, and other technology companies of all sizes.
  • Strategic Planning: Work with BUs and KAMs to formulate possible future scenarios for various types of datacenters, and how Eaton can differentiate by designing the architecture offering the best value proposition to all stages of the datacenter design, build, operations and maintenance.
  • Implementation: Work with ERLs and BUs to implement architecture recommendations.
  • Industry Engagement: Interact with key industry leaders to perform VoC, receive feedback on our offerings and influence engineering choices.
  • Research and Development: Research the IT and datacenter industries and new technologies.
  • Conference Participation: Participate in key IT and datacenter technical conferences (trade of academic), engage with customers, thought leaders, and engineers to identify emerging topics central to the industry.
  • Partner Collaboration: Regularly interact with partners (upstream, downstream, technology) to discuss industry trends.
  • Research Prioritization: Work with ERLs and university partners to understand emerging technologies and establish research priorities.
  • Industry Representation: Represent Eaton in universities with major clusters of labs working on computer science and datacenters.
  • Scenario Formulation: Formulate possible future scenarios for various types of datacenters.
  • Archetype Segmentation: Work with leaders to segment the datacenter industry by archetype.
  • Requirements Definition: Formulate requirements and scenarios for each datacenter archetype that will serve as a reference point for VoC, influence, and research/NPD.
  • Roadmap Development: Work with GPLs and Engineering leaders to create roadmaps aligned with scenarios.
  • Planning Cycle Contribution: Actively contribute to the Eaton planning cycle, including Strategy Plan, GPL waterline, or direct involvement in important NPDs.
  • Customer and Partner Interaction: Interact frequently with customers and partners.
  • Customer Feedback: Conduct VoC to deepen our understanding of customers' constraints and requirements and influence their design.
  • Design Collaboration: Work with partners on common designs to resolve constraints and satisfy requirements.
  • Bid Contribution: Engage with customers outside of bidding periods to discuss options and drive preferences for Eaton.
  • Public Representation: Represent the technical and economic vision of Eaton for the datacenters in public settings and with the press.
  • Regulatory Engagement: Promote Eaton's viewpoint with regulators and lawmakers as needed.
Qualifications
  • Education: Master degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 15+ years' experience as a lead engineer/thought leader, with experience in the datacenter or IT industry.
  • Knowledge: Deep knowledge of all the critical power chain systems. Working knowledge of construction methods and thermal management.
