The European VAT Compliance & Controllership team (VAT C&C), primarily based in London and Bratislava, oversees these obligations.
We are seeking a motivated and proactive Tax Analyst to become an integral part of our VAT C&C team in Bratislava.
This role involves collaborating with a segment of the team dedicated to verifying the VAT compliance status of our third-party sellers, supplying necessary data to tax authorities, and managing the access of these sellers to our platforms.
Additionally, responsibilities may encompass traditional VAT compliance tasks, supporting both internal and external audits, and engaging with colleagues in VAT C&C, Tax, and the broader business. A solid understanding of financial systems and technical accounting principles will be essential.
You may also participate in projects that influence VAT compliance.
Ownership of your responsibilities, identification of process enhancement opportunities, and driving positive transformations within the organization will be expected.
Key Responsibilities:- Verify the VAT registration and compliance status of third-party sellers;
- Provide transactional and relevant data to tax authorities regarding third-party sellers;
- Manage and regulate access of third-party sellers to Amazon marketplaces based on their VAT compliance status and requests from tax authorities;
- Assist with VAT registrations across various jurisdictions;
- Address VAT compliance inquiries from Amazon businesses operating throughout Europe;
- Support internal and external audits, including data analysis;
- Assist colleagues across the business, particularly in accounting;
- Engage in cross-functional projects;
- Map VAT compliance processes and identify areas for improvement;
- Bachelor's degree;
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
- Experience in a large public accounting firm or multinational corporate tax department;
- Experience in a multinational finance or VAT compliance role;
- Fluency in Mandarin to communicate with tax authorities;
- Professional tax or finance qualifications or similar credentials are advantageous;
- Technical expertise in programming (SQL, VBA, Python, etc.);
- Ability to document operational procedures clearly and proactively to address known risk patterns;
- Organized, analytical, and detail-oriented;
- A collaborative team player with a hands-on approach;
- Capability to take ownership of tasks, implement changes, and demonstrate problem-solving skills;
- Effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks;
