About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our growing GL Team as a process expert and people leader. The ideal candidate will have great technical accounting skills as well as highly developed soft skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the monthly financial close process for the Verisk Service Center, ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and roll-forwards.
  • Interact with business unit controllers and International Edinburgh hub to produce a timely, efficient, and accurate month-end close.
  • Prepare and review detailed account analyses as part of the month-end close.
  • Oversee multiple accounting areas, including Prepaid Expenses, Commissions, Fixed Assets, month-end accruals, etc.
  • E nsure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
  • Closely work with local Team Leader on people management aspects.
  • Have a good understanding of RTR processes (Intercompany, Reporting, Cash Management, and Treasury).
  • Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Complete all responsibilities outlined in the annual Performance Plan.
  • Complete special projects and other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of accounting experience required, with General Ledger and Technical Accounting being strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS rules is essential.
  • Experience in a service center environment is necessary.
  • Proven expertise in understanding evolving accounting issues and possessing innovative decision-making abilities.
  • Large ERP experience, particularly with Oracle Fusion, is beneficial.
  • Experience in supervising and coaching a team of employees to drive team development.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively with local teams and US/UK teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to self-review, and sense of ownership.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills; set goals, establish priorities, utilize available resources, and plan work to meet deadlines and commitments.
  • Effective documentation, teamwork, and communication skills are required.
  • Willingness to work as a full-time employee in a hybrid model from Cracow-based office.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 per annum based on location and experience.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in accounting or related field is required.
  • Professional accounting qualification, such as ACCA, would be an additional asset.
  • Fluency in English (C1 level plus) is essential.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
