Electrification of Container Handling Equipment

We are committed to decarbonizing our business by 2040, and electrification of our container handling fleet is a crucial step in achieving this goal. As an Electrification Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in our journey towards a more sustainable future.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the global Decarbonization office to enable our decarbonization strategy
  • Participate in discovering and developing requirements for energy-optimized terminal equipment solutions from the electrical infrastructure perspective
  • Conduct technical feasibility evaluations and provide infrastructure recommendations to enable port equipment electrification and energy optimization initiatives
  • Provide input on technical specifications, ensuring that functional requirements are well understood and covered
  • Participate in tender teams, analyzing and evaluating consultant and contractor proposals
  • Collaborate with peers in the technical function to ensure the design, engineering, and delivery of integrated assets to internal customers
  • Collaborate with OEMs to ensure documentation, training, and safety instructions for electric equipment meet maintenance community requirements
  • Collaborate with other technical functions to ensure pipeline management for central planning of equipment replacement and purchases
  • Act as a subject matter expert for energy optimization initiatives for terminals as needed
  • Work on asset acquisition, operations readiness, replacement, obsolescence, disposal, and handling aspects during asset life cycles
  • Build practices and standards aiming for the lowest total cost of ownership of electric assets
  • Monitor and analyze newly inducted asset performance, including battery charging time, availability, reliability, and other dependability aspects
  • Create and maintain a feedback loop between the maintenance community and the decarbonization team and other stakeholders
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in heavy equipment, specifically in ports container handling equipment (CHE)
  • International experience, with a background of working with leading OEMs or reputable engineering environments
  • Knowledge of solid-state batteries, electrification technologies used in heavy equipment or other industries (automotive, infrastructure, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical, collaboration, and communication skills with empathy
  • Good understanding of project management principles and practices
  • High-quality awareness and ability to work with constant care
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity and experience in a multicultural environment, regarding employees, local authorities, and other stakeholders
  • Self-motivating, result-oriented
  • Business-level English skills
Education
  • Ideal: Master's in STEM, preferably Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
