Skydance Media is seeking a highly skilled Senior Layout Artist to join our team. As a Layout Artist, you will play a crucial role in bringing our animated stories to life.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-Visualization: Generate 3D previz of the film in accordance with established storytelling guidelines to showcase character and environment placement on camera.
- Storytelling: Communicate the story based on storyboards and provide a cinematic aspect to scenes.
- Scene Layout: Aid in the rough layout of scenes following storyboards to show character and environment placement on camera.
- Character Blocking: Utilize storyboard animatics to create 3D scenes through character blocking and acting.
- Visual Implementation: Apply visuals provided by character design and modeling to create the rough layout of scenes.
- Team Collaboration: Work with the team to provide support, guidance, and instruction in areas contributing to artistic and professional growth.
- Supervision: Follow the guidance of Supervisors and Leads.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with current artistic methodologies and technology trends and tools to enhance creative and technical environments.
- Task Management: Break down scenes correctly and manage own work.
- 5+ years of experience in VFX or animation industries.
- 3+ years of experience in the animation industry is desirable.
- Strong artistic or technical aptitude related to 3D animation is a must.
- Knowledge of how to use elements to stage camera blocking.
- Understanding of photography and storytelling.
- Experience with Maya.
- Experience with non-linear editing tools such as Premiere, Hiero, DaVinci Resolve.
- Linux experience is a plus.
