Bioinformatics Research Engineer for Precision Medicine

Become a part of the Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute (Inb) team as a Senior Research Engineer on Research Infrastructures for Precision Medicine Projects. With a strong focus on developing and maintaining software for the integration and biological data, this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the European Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI), the EUropean federation for CAncer IMages (EUCAIM), and other flagship projects.
Key Responsibilities- Share responsibilities on the developments of flagship projects like the European Genomic Data Infrastructure (GDI), the EUropean federation for CAncer IMages (EUCAIM), and the reference implementation for IMPaCT-Data.
- Develop, document, and maintain software for the integration and biological data following the guidelines of ELIXIR.
- Responsibly participate in relevant technical activities within ELIXIR platforms, communities, and focus groups.
- Contribute to supervising junior members at the INB/ELIXIR-ES units.
As a Senior Research Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions for the integration and biological data. You will work closely with the INB coordination team and other stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and project success. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for precision medicine research.
About BSC and ELIXIRThe Barcelona Supercomputing Center - Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is a leading supercomputing center in Spain, housing MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe. As a member of the ELIXIR organization, the INB is responsible for the bioinformatics infrastructure offered by Spain, aiming to integrate and harmonize European bioinformatics infrastructures.
RequirementsWe are seeking candidates with a BSc or MSc in bioinformatics, computational biology, or computer sciences with significant bioinformatics experience. A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a similar role is required, along with experience with software life cycle involving repositories, continuous integration, and public releases. Strong programming skills in languages such as C++, Perl, Python, PHP, and Java are also necessary. Additionally, experience working with Unix/Linux systems and data management is essential.
