Postdoctoral Researcher in Epidemiological Modeling for Health Impact Assessment

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our Health Impact Assessment (HIA) team at Empresa Reconocida. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing activities in the project Echilibrist, which aims to develop and clinically validate a quantitative point-of-care test to measure biomarker severity and improve risk stratification of fever syndromes and enhance child survival.
About the TeamThe HIA team is part of the ISGlobal Severo Ochoa (SO) programme, which supports interdisciplinary science to improve the understanding of complex health problems. We collaborate with other programmes to evaluate and model more effective interventions to advance the Sustainable Development Goals. Our team aims to maximize our research impact through advocacy activities and dynamic dialogue with policy makers and programme managers.
About the ProjectWithin the Echilibrist Project, the HIA team is creating advanced individual-based models to assess how enhancing socioeconomic conditions, healthcare systems, and implementing Point-of-Care Testing (PoCT) strategies will affect child health in Mozambique, Ethiopia, and Gabon, with subsequent expansion across all of Sub-Saharan Africa.
Key Responsibilities- Conducting epidemiological and statistical modeling studies in projects led by the HIA group.
- Supporting the development of study proposals in the area of HIA.
- Designing and conducting epidemiological and statistical modeling studies.
- Performing microsimulation and individual-based model analyses.
- Preparing scientific manuscripts.
- Contributing to scientific discussion and participation in other activities in the HIA group.
- Supporting the writing and organization of scientific proposals.
- PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Economics, or related fields.
- Expertise and previous experience in working with epidemiological, or statistical, mathematical models.
- Experience with coding, preferably in R, or Python, or Julia.
- Demonstrated track record of achievements including publications in peer-reviewed journals.
