As a seasoned procurement leader, you will be responsible for driving the purchasing organization of a small division or business unit to achieve maximum value from global, regional, and local sourcing.

To succeed in this role, you will lead a team of purchasing professionals and support staff who provide purchasing expertise to internal customers, leveraging competitive advantage with suppliers to ensure Novartis achieves the best ultimate cost.

About the Role:


Key accountabilities include:

  • Developing an annual purchasing strategy for a small division or business unit, ensuring alignment with global procurement strategies.
  • Directing the development of annual procurement business plans and tactical plans, ensuring full alignment with divisional and group targets, and setting stretch targets for the team.
  • Identifying sourcing strategies, engaging and managing relationships with key internal clients and external suppliers, and exerting significant influence to drive procurement projects.
  • Negotiating agreements and leading the establishment of contracts to decrease total cost with specified quality and service levels, ensuring supply security, and tracking savings according to group guidelines ($100-$750m).
  • Implementing and utilizing procurement systems and tools in countries, ensuring consistent tracking of savings and other procurement KPIs, according to group policies.
  • Demonstrating thought leadership in identifying, implementing, and continuously improving sourcing best practices, systems, and processes, and ensuring policies alignment.
  • Preparing and finalizing procurement investment plans and budgets.
  • Overseeing the management and development of procurement teams (Direct reports or indirect reports 50).

Key Requirements:


Preferably at least 15 years of relevant subject experience (IT related experience in procurement, supplier management, finance, architecture, IT outsourcing solution sales, IT infrastructure governance, or programme management). Preferably 10+ years of experience in procurement or other related experience preferably in commercial negotiation, sourcing management, category management, supplier management, or related area, with a focus in the IT infrastructure domain.

University/Advanced degree is required. Master's Degree/other advanced degree in IT, Business Administration, is preferred. Advanced negotiation skills. Strong project management and other leadership experience. Senior stakeholder management.
