Job Summary: The American School of Barcelona is seeking a part-time English Language instructor to join our team. As an experienced ELT/TEFL educator, you will be responsible for teaching English to non-native children ages 3-16 in a dynamic and supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement engaging lessons to promote language acquisition and social-emotional growth in students.
  • Develop and maintain a flexible program and class environment that fosters learning and personal growth.
  • Motivate students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a strong foundation for advanced language acquisition.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Evaluate students' language growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare report cards.

Requirements:

  • Valid English language teaching credentials (TEFL, CELTA, Young Learners, etc.).
  • Valid Spanish work visa.
  • At least three (3) years of recent work experience teaching English to non-native children ages 3-16.
  • Familiarity with Cambridge and/or Oxford teaching materials and methodologies.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and mixed-ability groupings.
  • Evidence of recent professional development activities.
  • Experience working in an internationally and linguistically diverse school setting.
